RunningWorks is here to offer you the chance to train with other FitnessWorks members for upcoming races. It doesn’t matter if you’re an advanced or beginning runner. If you enjoy walking and running outdoors, want to improve your cardio and meet new people then come check out RunningWorks!
RunningWorks Update: We are currently in the process of reorganizing our RunningWorks program. We will offer a new program, complete with new schedules, workout calendars and informational/motivational lectures. You can continue to train and stay in touch with current “TeamWorks” members by joining our running group on the web at www.running2win.com. Our team name is FitnessWorks.
We look forward to training for all upcoming, local running/walking events in the spring.
Information about local races that we are training for can be found at the SLO Distance Club Website.
History:
RunningWorks is an extension of the summer series class “StrideWorks”. For the first 4 weeks of summer, we trained once a week to complete the Rock to Pier 10K race. To the right is a picture of us as "TeamWorks" after we finished the Rock to Pier race.
Just because summer is over that doesn’t mean we’re going to stop training for local events. Thanks to RunningWorks, we can continue our training.
Testimonial:
Wow, what an incredible experience! I never imagined being able to run in a 10K race, or even a 5K for that matter. I am not a runner, cardio is not my strength. I signed up with StrideWorks hoping to learn a little about running and maybe enter in the Rock to Pier Race (I mean after all it was a WALK/Run and certainly there would be some people walking. I figured I would join the walkers if I pooped out.) We started about a month before the event and practiced every Saturday, I wasn't even running past a mile. My friend and I tried to get in an extra practice or two each week. By the next few Saturdays we were running a little farther and farther each week. Unfortunately my friend had to go out of town on business, I was thinking, "Oh great, now I have to run this on my own". But thanks to the support from my fellow runners, I stuck it out and we did it. We completed the 10K run and never walked a minute of it. It may not have been a fast run but it was the most exhilarating fitness challenge I have ever attempted. I am so thankful that FitnessWorks provided this opportunity and I am so grateful to Dani and Adam for all their support and encouragement. So come out and join us in the next run, it's a lot of fun and there's no pressure to keep up with anyone else. You set your own pace and just enjoy being in the race. --Kim from Los Osos
